Ran the 1st Wisconsin Marathon on Sat. in Kenosha. Weather was perfect, the course was flat for the most part & ran along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The plan was to go out easy, about 8 mins a mile. & Pick it up at 19 & finish strong. Out of the 12 Marathons I’ve ran I’ve only been able to do this once. This was not that race. Mile two 7.28 Mile three. 7 .38 & so on. by mile 12 I knew this was going to be another struggle to the finish line. Finish time was 3.28, oh well.
The coolest thing about this race though was the virtual race they have at the race website were you can watch yourself run the race, see your self passing people or getting passed. Track yourself against a friend or another runner. You see yourself as a red dot on the course & a little red runner dude on the small screen. Apparently I made my big move, according to the little red guy beginning at mile 13. Right were I was feeling, "oh no screwed up again". My Bib # 579

Wow - that's the coolest feature ever! You beat the pants off of #578, who I tracked you against (she was about an hour behind you). It looks like you had a great race, even if it wasn't quite the one you hoped for.

So, I gotta know how they did that. How did they track you every step of the way?

Pretty cool, Martin! I loved playing with the animation. Congrats on a good race.

St. George had something similar, but not so comprehensive.

That is freaking awesome! I especially liked seeing the winner kick everyone's butt. I think he won and runners were at the 10 mile mark. Shocked

You did great. Moving up from 85th to finishing 47th. NICE!

that was cool to watch, I was impressed with the winner and felt bad for the people who still hadn't gotten to mile 14 by the time you finished... gotta practice that easy start at another race soon!

Tell me about it. In a previous life I think I was a wilderbeast or some such. Once the race starts I go with the herd, you know so I'm not the one that gets eaten by the Lions, Tigers or Bears. Man their all sports teams, go figure.

Did you wear your cheese hat? I couldn't believe some of the runners were running the whole marathon with those big wedges of cheese on their head - or a guy running 1/2 marathon in a suit.

For their 1st marathon - it was very well organize.

Yes, amazing stuff. And I thought it was interesting to watch the field spread out. Thanks and congrats.
