Babs is running Mardi Gras!

Trent and GBN are tackling 2 different tough trail 50K's!

Have great races and let us know how it goes. Who's going to be running in snow drifts?

Good luck everyone.

I'm hoping to see Barb & family for dinner so that I can participate in the carbo loading but skip the running part.

My 50k time was 7:58.

But the course was longer, admitted by the race crew. 32.5 miles. Total time on course: 8:19.

So. Much. Mud. Wow. So. Many. Hills. Wow.

Love in the Hills!!

Wow!

This was one of those runs wehre the voices were very loud. You know the voices. The ones that tell you to stop. That you have done enough. That you don't need to go on. And as I kept going, the conditions kept getting worse and muddier and... my body was more and more worn out. And so the voices got louder, but the finish closer (until at mile 30 I learned that it was 1 1/2 miles off, egad). "What are you trying to prove?" "Can you really log a pace like that?" "You are going to get hurt." And on and on and on. But girding my loins and with encouragement from the crazy fellow I ran with, plus the knowledge that loads of friends were looking for a finish from me after last year's DNF, I got it done.

Yeah Trent! Redemption is so sweet. I ran my last 2 50K's in 8 hours so I know how you feel. There is always that point in the race where you question what the hell made you do this? But you push and just get it done. Congrats.

And GBN....where's your update? I'd like to run Holiday Lake someday. Is it a typical Horton race with bonus miles?

I held my own. Not as great as some days, not as bad as others.

Holiday Lake is about 32.2 miles, modest by Horton standards. Well organized, impeccably marked course, and fully stocked aid stations. It is by far the easiest of his races.
