I like the fact that Trent is running 10x what I'm running, let's hope it only takes 10x as long. Good luck everyone!!!!!

Best of luck to all - these long races make my 5K in Tucson tomorrow morning look pretty pathetic.

I started the race with a sinus infection in tow. Mile 45, when combined with the heat, it caused me to start wheezing pretty awful. At mile 50, I nearly gave up. but I took my medicine and ran one more 12 1/2 mile loop. Well, walked it really. At 100 K, I dropped. so I ran a 100 K, popped a 50 mile PR, all while I was sick. and then I got to sleep in a real bed. I'll take it.

Congrats Trent. I was thinking of you while I drove into Raleigh during a huge thunderstorm Saturday evening.

I switched from a flat multiple loop course 50K to an hilly out and back on the Mountains to Sea trail in Raleigh. Rolling Eyes Beautiful course but I vastly underestimated the degree of difficulty and the first race of the year dealing with heat/hydration issues.

To all RD's out there tho.....don't start a 12 mile race an hour after the 50K runners take off. I spent over an hour letting speedy 12 milers get by me on the narrow, winding single track. Not a pleasant hour. I think I said this is sofa king wrong many times when a train of about 10-15 runners would blow by and I had to stand there and wait. Evil or Very Mad

Yes, apparently the Thunderstorm was powerful with lots of lightning in the park. I was already in bed when it hit.
