This is a nice 10K to benefit Ted E. Bear Hollow, which is a center that helps grieving children who have lost parents or other family members.

The race started and finished at Outback Steakhouse, running out and back along Omaha's Keystone Trail. No PR today, but I was relatively pleased with my time of about 47:08. Then I enjoyed samples of steak and mushrooms, teriyaki chicken, and bloomin' onions...along with a couple of beers (part of my training for DWD).

My daughters ran the 5K, which went in the opposite direction up the Keystone Trail. Stephanie (10) was waiting for me when I finished, but Carolyn (12) was inside the restaurant getting an ice pack for her arm. Unfortunately, she had been hit by the lead bike coming back in the opposite direction! She was OK, but does have a big, swollen, bruise on her forearm.

Despite the mishap, Carolyn took 2nd in the female 12 and under bracket...and Stephanie took 1st! They've both been racking up the hardware lately.

This race has grown a lot since I ran the 5K in 2003. We missed it last year, but we'll definitely make it a regular part of our fall racing from now on.

Those are some fast daughters you have! Congrats to them!

I'd run about any distance for free Outback food. Yum!
