What races are you planning to run?

Your TM friends want to know. Please post the longer races you'll be running at the end of this thread or PM No Twitch Muscles (Ian), and we'll try to keep this list up-to-date. Who knows, another Tapir might be running the race or decide to because you'll be there too.

There's no motivation quite like announcing your intentions right here in front of the rest of us.

Thanks!

I'm running a half marathon on Saturday.

This Saturday.

uh-oh...

For the record:

Inaugural Baldwin Park Half Marathon (yup, I'm a sucker for firsters)
Saturday Nov 14, 2009
Baldwin Park (Orlando) site of former Navy Base
start and finish is at the reincarnation (i.e., new building) of my elementary school (the one that was swallowed up by a sinkhole)

Fully anticipate a last-place finish. This is a really small race.

I did.. and wow, got in under the gun. They must have closed right after me! My withdrawl for the $130 from my bank account is pending, so it looks like I'm in for sure! Whew.

Welcome and good luck, samroot.

Although she has not posted, abbydoll1414 is planning to run the Roxbury Half Matahhon on 12/12. Her dad will probably run a shorter distance (as the "races" there tend to be informal) that same morning and then offer some support.

Hey Mike, I'm thinking of either Bel Monte Endurance Run 50K or Terrapin MTN 50K on March 27th. Which one would you suggest?

I think I'm going to take a pass on Promise Land 50K this year. The 93 degrees and Horton miles about killed me last year. Confused

You should run Terrapin with me.

I don't know much about Bel Monte, but I've heard good things. Both races probably offer similar terrain. The trails out at Bel Monte are very technical (rocky). Terrapin is very similar to Promise Land, minus the heat. There are two monster climbs (one at the beginning, one towards the end), with a lot of variation in between. I don't remember it being extremely technical, although there was one section where we had to do circus tricks and stamp our bib with an orienteering punch to prove we had been there. No Horton miles (I measured 30-miles and change last year) and a nice long downhill at the end.

Bel Monte looks to be a bit easier...only 6300 ft. elevation gain compared to 7500 for Terrapin Mtn. Both have a 9 hr. cut-off time. I'll probably stick with Bel Monte for that reason alone since I am not fast and need all the help I can get to finish within the time limits. Smile

Remove Seattle RNR Half Marathon (6/26)
Add Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon (6/19) - let's call it the full for now and see what happens.

Grandma's for me as well and
Vegas on December 5th.
Wife was so stoked at the prospect we already booked our flight and hotel. Pretty damn cheap too.

02/28/10 - Mardi Gras Marathon

3/28/10 - Knoxville Marathon

4/24/10 - Country Music Marathon (I'll be helping out with the SwiftWick Socks booth at the Expo)
