I have not run since July 27, 2012.
That changed this morning!!!
I have been hitting the pool every workday since Jan 7 to help build my core. I definitely feel better, so good that yesterday while walking out of work I decided that I would attempt a run.

I did some mild stretching before leaving the house. Bundled up for the 8* temp! I took the first few steps and was very pleased. No pain, just mild stiffness. I went a 1/4 mile when I took a walking break for about a minute. When I started up again it was not my hammie that bothered me but my knees and ankles. I walked a few more times before I ended my run. By the time I finished my 1.4 miles, the ankle/knee pain was no longer a concern!

A very happy day for me!!!!!!!

great news... I'm impressed with braving the 8* as well...it's been in the mid 20s when I've jogged the dog at 6 AM, and dark and that has depressed me... I'll think of you in 8* and it will make me happy both for you runing and me only slightly freezing.

Congrats on the first step, Farnk!! Just take it one day at a time and you'll be back in no time at all.

Still not running although I did get up to 2 miles without stopping 2 weeks ago. It wasn't pretty but it wasn't painful. A bit sore afterwards.

baby steps!

Maybe if you took regular steps you could go a little farther? Laughing
