Long time, no write... Lots of reasons, all boring. What motivated me right now is that I just saw a blurb for a new ebook by Hal Higdon on Boston.

...In 4:09:43, Higdon views Boston 2013 through the eyes of those running the race... You will meet Michele, who at age 2 helped her mother hand water to runners, who first ran the marathon while a student at Wellesley College, and who decided to run Boston again mainly because her daughter Shannon was now a student at Boston University...

This year was the first time in 10 years that I wasn't involved in some way with the Boston Marathon. Next year I turn 60 and my goal is to celebrate the big birthday with a big event. I'm hoping it will be the Boston Marathon but I won't know until December if I have a shot at an invitational entry or not. If not Boston, then some other event which will force me to get back into marathoning condition.

Anyway, it is good to skim through all the posts and see all the old names and faces and know that you are doing well!

Hey Beth! Great to hear from you again. Most folks here have all moved on to either FB or other things in their life. Good luck with the invitational entry, I hope it comes through for you!

And I thought about you this past year as I passed 20 miles. I'm always looking for you and that Gatorade.

Are people following the news re the 2014 race? Latest buzz, possibly no bag check? I see my calling! I hope to celebrate my 60th birthday by running, but invitational entries have been getting scarce in the past few years and this coming year could be incredibly difficult. If I don't get a bib, I think I will be a bag lady.

I'm guessing no bag check like NY but you can (will) where throw away clothes and leave for collection in Hopkington just like NY. I also suspect no bags anywhere near the finish line or anywhere from probably BC into town if it can be controlled. I hope to see you Beth, if not proudly walking, but on Heartbreak Hill. My daughter goes to BU so I will have two stops to look forward to in the latter miles.
