There is a fancy shmancy new BW with a waterpark. It is on the marathon course, around mile 22 or 23 I think. There is another downtown that is not very nice, but it is very close to the finish line. We stayed at the latter a couple years ago, it was very convenient.

I will be driving in race morning from Lake Nebagamon, WI, about 45 minutes away. Good fun!

I am staying at Lake Nebagamon in Wisc(Trent I need your address). Actually no plans have been made yet as last year I waited until like 2 weeks before race to secure housing. Plan to do same this year and stay in private home. Hopefully the same one.

I am going to wait and make them sweat. Ya, like that is going to happen. Got an e-mail that stated that last year the race was already 1/2 full in the first 24 hours. We shall see about that.

Thinking hard about this one. How long can I procrastinate and still get in and a hotel room?

Autumn - I need a roomie!!! I got a pretty good rate too . . . .so now you can't pass it up for a half cost room!!

I know the race does fill up in a matter of days. Not sure if this economy will delay that at all . . . and it's a pretty stiff entrance fee at over $100 including $12 for the pasta party and $6 for a stupid processing fee.

Autumn, fly into Minneapolis on Thursday, spend a night here, drive up with us on Friday and party like crazy after the race. How can you possibly turn that down?

Checked Grandmas website, out of curiosity, to see if there was any mention of how full it is and didn't see anything.

But, I did notice that the registration fee was listed as $85 + processing fee. So, guess it wasn't a stupid processing fee after all. Just a regulular, run-of-the-mill processing fee I guess!

Who is all in for Grandmas?

Trent
Paul
Steve
Autumn
Melissa

Lori?
Lisa?

For those who haven't received word yet, music devices will be allowed but discouraged at Grandma's this year. Is this a victory? Gosh now I am unsure as to what to do since it is no longer a "crime" to wear my shuffle during the race.

There's all kinds of rules to break Paul. Pick one now or just make it your "outlaw dujour".

I think you should start a poll for suggestions.

Paul, If they are permitting music now, then bringing same seems pointless. UNLESSSS, say you were to find the RD and other officials before the race and sort of taunt them by ever so slowly strutting by! Oh and you didn't hear this from me. Smile

Does anyone know how far along registration is? The race did not sell out last year, did it? I am considering returning this year but want to wait as long as is possible to register.

Come on Tom. You still owe me a beer or shot of tequila. Quite a few of us shared one of those last year. Last year they were 1500 short of filling. Not sure what is happening this year. Maybe Trent can find out.

Would love to see you again. Obviously your training has been good so far so I say put it on the list.

It's definitely on the list, Paul, and more than anything I'd love to hang out with you guys before and after. I've got a group coming in from Germany at the end of the school year and I have to wait and see when they are leaving before I can commit to anything. There's also some family commitments that need to solidify, so I'm kind of hung out on this decision, at least for now.

Grandma Tapirs that have yet to book accommodations, I have a room, two nights at Two Harbor's Country Inn [next to MCd's]. I do not need it and have till the 15th to cancel.

Anyone wanting to coordinate the cancel/book thingy-let me know and I'll synchronize.

I'm guessing that the weather will be perfect [for a change] since I'm skipping this year.

Huh. Grandma's. I need MN. I need a fast course and good conditions. Of course, I probably need to have my head examined for even thinking about this. When the heck is it?
