Now that I'm in, you can count on hot and humid weather. Who all is going to be there this year?

Paul - your TCM pasta feed is exactly why TCM will be one of the first marathons I run after I complete my tour of the states. And the post-race glass is probably already the thing I'm most looking forward to at Grandma's. Now, about those pesky 26.2 miles..........

Do they still have that you have to rent a hotel room for 2 nights thing going on even if you only want to stay one night? I have the 19th free and my husband will owe me big time after returning from his 10 day fishing trip to Alaska on the 13th. Hmmmmm. Tempting.

Lynne, not sure how Rita feels about it, but I'm thinking we might be able to handle a third in our hotel room. We're both trying to do it on the cheap (as much as possible), so I wouldn't have a problem splitting the room three ways. We are both flying into MSP and driving from there - got a good rate on a rental. PM me if you are interested, and I'll run this by Rita.

My neighbor has talked me into a stage race that weekend instead. 60 miles over 3 days over 3 different mountains near Chattanooga, TN. Guess I didn't get enough of those trails last weekend. Smile

Ian, you should come join us for one of the stage runs. You could choose between 22 miles (Lookout Mtn), 18 miles (Racoon Mtn), or 20 miles (Signal Mtn).

You all have fun up in Duluth. I'll make it up there one of these years.

So who we got?

Judy Denver
ksimkoid
Stihl
Melissa
Trent
lori
Rita?

I forget the prerace spot.

Postrace is on the patio at:
Little Angie's Cantina & Grill
www.grandmasrestaurants.com
11 E Buchannan St
Duluth, MN 55802

About an hour later Ill be headed to:
Fitger's Brewhouse Brewery and Grille
www.brewhouse.net
600 East Superior Street

Stihl, if I remember right: "I expect a sample bottle or two [of the oatmeal molasses stout] in Duluth for myself and Kathleen and Ben. Its the least you could do. Okay so maybe I am begging a bit." I will try to have a couple bottles in the car, but the car will be by Fitgers...

I am not sure we set up a pre-race spot but we could. In past years we have eaten at Red Lobster as it is close and we like to watch the 5k. Several years ago we ate at Blackwoods which was very good.

Also, I am involved in an organization called Medals4Meddle where we give away race medals to kids with cancer. Actually am doing a give on Friday morning at Children's Hospital in Duluth. If any of you would like to donate some medals we have a table at the expo by packet pick-up. I plan on being at the table from 2-4 on Friday. For those passing thru Minneapolis, I could meet you somewhere while in town.

Also Trent, you have to add Lori to the list.

I saw this on facebook a few months ago. One of the coolest ideas I've come across in a long time. You're a good man for being involved with them.

Hey, I meant prerace near the starting line on race morning.

Rita, this is before shower. The Cantina is right next to the finish line.

Oh, morning of the race meet on the corner of the parking lot at the car dealership closest to the start line. Remeber where we ran into each other before last years race?

Beauty. Facing the dealer, with the loooooong portapottie lineup to your back, that is to the left, atop the little hill.

I may have to go back and forth between the cantina and Fitgers Wink

Who will be in for the pre-race meal? Is that a fixture of Grandmas, or is the post-race the party not to miss? I'm definitely up for any/all get-togethers!

I'm with her (Judy's got the rental car)... as I will be traveling with almost no sleep and fairly useless as a marathon runner (even on a good day) I'm definately in this for the party... but if there is a pre-race that has something to offer besides pasta I'd be really happy...

Ditto Judy & Rita's comments, up for just about anything! Especially since my surgeon released me last week to try running without my sling!! Laughing We are staying at the Sheraton so hopefully, it's walking distance to everything planned. Also, Paul, it is better to try for a shuttle or the train to the start?

Stay away from the train at all costs. I was sitting on that darn thing for almost 2 hours last year and got to the start 15 minutes before the start of the race.

Let me know about the night before. If all want to get topgether i will make reservations somewhere.

Ben and I are up for a pre-race gathering and most definitely a post race celebration. I am so slow, by the time I finished the Melbourne Beaches marathon in February, the food was all gone Mad

Current reservations made at Blackwoods Restaurant(top of Lemon Drop Hill) at 6:30 for 12-15. Let me know who is planning on joining in case i need to add a bit more space. We ate there a couple 3/4 years ago. It was very good.

I saw this on facebook a few months ago. One of the coolest ideas I've come across in a long time. You're a good man for being involved with them.

I just sent them a big box of leftover monkey medals Smile

Current reservations made at Blackwoods Restaurant(top of Lemon Drop Hill) at 6:30 for 12-15. Let me know who is planning on joining in case i need to add a bit more space. We ate there a couple 3/4 years ago. It was very good.

Bummer... I'm doing Black Woods the night of the race!! However.. we hang out a long time after the race, and will try and stop by your table at Angies Paul. Hopefully we'll meet up with some of the rest of you!

We went to the tent party last year, and had a great time, although fair warning.. everybody and their brother that lives in Superior/Duluth comes out for this party!

I'm probably better prepared to drink than to run... though I'm about as slow at that as the other

Weather.com just changed the Saturday forecast from "partly cloudy" to "a.m. showers" with a high of 66. Hmmm. I could like that. I went to buy new shoes tonight (late, yes, I know) only to have the Boulder Running Company come up empty for my size (first time this has ever happened). But it looks like I really want to wear my rain-conditioned shoes (from last week's showers here) Saturday anyway.

And no, I'm not paying any attention to the accuweather.com forecast. Any race day forecast that calls for temps that are spelled with a "7" just don't interest me much.

I have looked at the weather daily. But my experience with Grandmas is that the weather predictions are never right and it is always in the 80s.

Have a wonderful race all of you! Good luck and I hope the weather is at least 20 degrees cooler than here.

I'm taking my Novice Training group over the Peachtree Course and it is expected to be 74F and 90% humidity for us. I'll be thinking of you as we are running!

Then I'm off to NY - so I hope it is cool there.

Again - have a wonderful race all of you, and enjoy a cold one on me.

Who do we have for 2011?

Assuming the Cantina post race.

Yes as usual Rhonda will be on her "A" game for post-race festivities.
